Of all the homeruns that Luke and Eli have hit, I have only caught two on video. Both were Luke's. Always exciting!
It all started with the lady I tutored calling her son her treasure. I thought that was neat so I started telling my oldest son that he was my treasure. When I said it to him, he whispered, "Treasure", as if I was telling him a secret. My babies, all four of them, are my treasure.

Eli Allstars 2018
At the end of the 2018 spring Little League season, Eli's was on the Allstar team. They won districts and went to sectionals. It was a really awesome experience and he was one of the best players on the team. It was fun to watch.

Eli at the County Track and Feild
Eli is such a natural athlete. He and Luke have been invited to the county track and field event to represent their school for the past several years.
Eli ran the mile event for his school in 5th grade in March 2018. He placed 5th out of about 30 kids. I might have been so proud I cried a little. :)
This is Eli doing the long jump in 6th grade at the middle school county event in March of 2019.
Eli Free Throw Competition
Eli was chosen to represent Woodward Elementary in a free throw competition in May of 2017. He got 2nd place! (Absolute silence was required from the audience or they would be asked to leave!)

At the Ball Field
That's where we'll be if anybody needs us.
I knew this day would come. We've put it off through pregnancy, infancy, moving, building, moving again...as long as we possibly could. And now, it's time. We're at the ball field. Almost every day of the week. Well, I should say, Kris is at the ball field. I'm mostly home with Susanna and whoever else doesn't want to go that day.
Luke, you are so fun to watch out there. You are strong and sturdy, confident and brave. You dive after every ball and catch most of them. You swing wisely, taking instruction from your coach, taking the misses in stride. When you connect, it's a solid base hit most every time. You hustle. You focus. You excel. And you love every second. As I think on how you play ball, I can truthfully say that is just how you do life. It's fun to watch you do life too.
Eli, this is the first time you've played on your own team without Luke. I have been so proud of you, how you've been determined to practice and improve. You have the most graceful and natural throw and swing. When you swing the bat, it looks like you were born with a bat in your hand. That's a gift. I feel confident this will be your season of excellence. Not only because you'll get hits and make catches, but because you have such a great attitude about working hard and so much humility. You are a team player in every sense of the word, both on the field and at home.
Both of you boys bring me so much joy. I couldn't be more proud of you.

I'm Not Cut Out for Competition
One of the reasons we wanted to live in this neighborhood was for all the activities for families. Last Saturday there was a race for the kids put on by Run4ACause. I'm pretty sure it's an annual race, and if so, my boys will want to run it annually. They are hooked. I, on the other hand, have some toughening up to do. I do not like the thought of my children working really hard and suffering disappointment. Life, I know, but like I said, I've got to work up some thicker skin before we put them in really competitive activities.
Susanna rooting her brothers on.
Judah's big finish.
(Please close your ears to the shrill voice in the background. It was my nerves.)
He got first place in the 4 year old boys group.
They each won a coffee mug. They were thrilled and have already had several rounds of hot chocolate.
Luke and Eli waiting for their turn.
Their big finish. They both got 3rd in their age groups.
(The shrill voice in the background has gone up about two octaves. It's almost unbearable. You may want to turn your volume down.)
I'm so proud of my boys. They didn't quit when they were behind and really winded. And they weren't nearly as nervous as their mama.
